The Glasgow School of Art groups B and C

Before going to the Glasgow School of Art, we passed the Daily Record Building. It's a big building with blue, green and white tiles. This piece of work is one of the first designed by Mackintosh. It is situated in a very small street called a lane, and it's a derelict building. It's strange and unacceptable that this monument which is in every tourist guide isn't looked after, but fortunately, it is going to be refurbished. Then, we went to the Glasgow School of Art. We saw several rooms: The Furniture Gallery is suspended with spirally twisted pillars because Mackintosh wanted to produce a crushing effect with the ceiling. In this place, there are lots of chairs and tables. For example there is the large chair designed for Mrs Kate Cranston, the bossy owner of four tea rooms. There is also a very uncomfortable chair for her waitresses because the waitresses had to work and shouldn't sit down. This room is amazing as there is a lot of different pieces of furniture. Then we saw the loggia where the students came to draw the city of Glasgow. From this place, we can see the back of the school which is not nice since Mackintosh had no money left. Then, we went to the hen run which is a corridor where it's cold in winter and the girls used to run to go to their classes. It's a very long and luminous corridor.
The Mackintosh Room was designed by Mackintosh in a very modern way, but the governor of the School hated it because it looked too feminine. However, it's a very beautiful room with original furniture. There is also a mantel piece with the shape of Mackintosh's moustache.

Avant d'aller à la Glasgow School of Art, nous sommes passés devant le Daily Record Building. C'est un grand immeuble avec des carreaux bleu, vert et blanc. Cette oeuvre est l'une des premières que Mackintosh a construit. Il est situé dans une toute petite rue appelée lane, il est endommagé. C'est étrange et inacceptable qu'un monument qui est dans tous les guides touristiques soit dans cet état.Mais il va être rénové. Ensuite, nous sommes allé à la Glasgow School of Art. Nous avons visité plusieurs salles: la gallerie des meubles est suspendue avec des pilliers torsadés car Mackinstosh voulait produire un effet d'écrasement avec le plafond. Dans cette pièce, il y a beaucoup de chaises et de tables par exemple, il y a une grande chaise déssinée pour Melle Kate Cranston.C'était la propriétaire de quatre salons de thé. il y a une chaise trés inconfortable pour les serveuses parce qu'elles devaient travailler et ne devaient pas s'assoir. Cette pièce est amusante car il y a beaucoup de meubles différents. Puis nous avons visités la Loggia où les étudiants viennent dessiner la ville de Glasgow.De cet endroit nous pouvons voir l'arrière de l'ècole qui n'est pas trés joli car Mackintosh n'avait plus assez d'argent. Ensuite nous sommes aller au Hen run, c'est un couloir où il fait froid en hiver, et les filles couraient pour aller en classe.
La Mackintosh room a été créée par Mackintosh, elle est vraiment tres moderne mais le doyen de l'école la haïssait car il la trouvait trop féminine. Malgré cela , c'est une trés belle pièce avec des meubles originaux , il y a également le manteau d'une cheminée avec la forme des moustaches de Mackintosh.
