The Lighthouse all groups

The Centre of Architecture and Design.
On 11 Mitchell Lane, there is a big neon sign which indicates the entrance to the Lighthouse. It rained hard this morning and it was so windy that we were freezing. Moreover, we were obliged to wait outside because we arrived half an hour early. The Lighthouse was composed of an old building which was designed by C.R.Mackintosh between 1893 and 1895.In 1999, a large front window was added to the building front side. We were allowed to visit the place on our own. In the hall, there is an exhibition about the story of the building and about Art Nouveau. On the first floor, there is a shop and an original tree-shaped installation with scarves which seem to fly in the wind. There is a goat at the bottom of the tree. On the second floor, there is another exhibition of young artists called Young Designers Gallery. On the third floor, it is a C.R. Mackintosh exhibition. There is a wall with recesses in which there are little models which are Mackintosh's productions. On the fourth floor, there are digital productions of young Scottish artists. On the fifth floor there is a series of photos representing different places designed by Mackintosh. Finally, on the sixth floor, there is a viewing platform where you can enjoy a full view of the city.

Le centre de l'architecture et du design.
Situé au 11 rue Mitchell Lane, il y a une énrome enseigne en néon qui indique l'entrée de la Light House. Il pleuvait des cordes ce matin-là et il y avait un vent glacial. De plus, nous étions obligés d'attendre dehors car nous étions arrivés une demi-heure en avance. La Light House est composée d'un vieux bâtiment qui fut dessiné par Mackintosh entre 1893 et 1895. En 1999, une grande vitrine fut ajoutée à la façade de ce bâtiment. Nous pouvions visiter ce lieu à loisir. Dans le hall, il y a une exposition sur l'histoire du bâtiment et de l'art nouveau. Au premier étage, il y a un magasin et une installation originale en forme d'arbre avec des écharpes qui semblent flotter dans le vent. Il y a une chèvre à l'arrière de l'arbre. Au second étage, il y a une autre exposition de jeunes artistes appelés "young designers gallery" ("la gallerie des jeunes designers"). Au troisième étage, il y a une exposition sur Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Il y a un mur avec des renfoncements dans lesquels sont présentés des modèles de Mackintosh. Au quatrième étage, il y a des productions numériques de jeunes artistes écossais. Au cinquième étage, il y a une série de photos représentant différents lieux designés (dessinés, créés...) par Mackintosh. Pour finir, au sixième étage, il y a une terrasse panoramique où l'on peut profiter au maximum de la vue sur la ville.
